Is tooth whitening safe?
Yes. Research has shown that where teeth are normal and healthy there are no demonstrably adverse effects on the tooth’s enamel.

What causes discoloration of the tooth?
Aging, smoking and the ingestion of dark pigmented food and drink such as coffee, tea, cola, and red wine are the leading causes of tooth discoloration.

How does dental bleaching remove stains?
As the carbamide peroxide in the whitening gel breaks down, light and heat from the BriteLite Whitening Lamp acts upon stained organic deposits and oxidizes them into a white color. This process makes the overall tooth color closer to its natural unstained color. Throughout the process the tooth’s structure remains unchanged.

Are there any side effects?
A very small percentage of people may experience a slight tingling sensation or sensitivity of the gums during the treatment. This goes away once the teeth are rinsed and brushed.

Does tooth whitening work for everyone?
Tooth whitening is not effective on individuals whose teeth have been stained as a result of certain medications, decalcification, or those who were born with gray teeth.

Is tooth whitening recommended for everyone?
No. Tooth whitening procedures are not recommended for pregnant or nursing women or children under the age of 14.

Will Evolution Spa or Evolve affect my fillings, crowns or other dental work?
Although our products will not whiten crowns, fillings, veneers, or other dental work, the process does not adversely affect these structures.

How long will the results last?
For most, results last several months, however exposure to smoking and/or the ingestion of dark pigmented food and drink will gradually darken teeth again over time. In this case, additional treatments may be necessary to maintain your desired results.
